Flip A Coin Effect
Posted: 28 Sep 2008 12:46 AM
Hey guys! I made a new effect called "Flip A Coin". As you can see by the middle part with the point time and value stuff, it was a lot of work. It took me HOURS to figure out how I could make what I wanted. This isn't... the exact thing I wanted, but it will work. This effect acts like a coin flipping in the air 3 times, and then landing on the ground and kind of "flops" around a bit before coming to a complete stop. I don't know how I got the idea to do this, but I like it!

NOTICE: I made this effect to be used on about 10 second clips.

P.S. It won't let me do the "purple" color on the code. It also won't let me use smiley faces... and I don't know why. Well, pretend that this whole text is purple:

Edit: See the corrected code in a later post

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="(C)Flip A Coin" iconid="24" guid="(C)Flip A Coin" shadermodel="2">

I know, it's pretty complicated. lol. It was a severe challenge to make, so any feedback would be awesome! Thanks!

Haven't downloaded the code but will be interesting to see, sounds like a transition in Pinnacle, so I'm going to try it tomorrow.Smiley

To learn how to make it purple and make smiles.....view post 1304Wink

You don't have edit rights, do you? Well, you need them, because you made a mistake.

THIS XML DOES NOT WORK! IT WORKS IF:
COPY THE EFFECT ABOVE
PASTE: </Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>
BEHIND IT!

Than it worksTongue out!

Ok, smileys don't work?Perplexed?!? They do, but you need to put a space in front and after them, so this: Tongue out !
You'll see it will work.
With the color code: don't forget the "purple" " things.

About the effect: nice! But:
<CameraZoom evaluation="Linear" type="float4">
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
</CameraZoom>

could be
<CameraZoom evaluation="Linear" type="float4">
<Point time="0.0" value="0.0"/>
</CameraZoom>

or even shorter:
<CameraZoom value="0.0" type="float4">
</CameraZoom>

TheOnePb - hoping for more effects..

Do you want the XML codes of the standard effects? You can modifie them!Wink

No, not at all. At least you are trying, experimenting, and learning at the same timeBig Smile

Not all would be willing to even attempt to tackle it. I commend you on your attempts and before you know it, you will be excellent at it. Big Smile

Hey, I didn't said it was wrong? I love your effects and I'd love to see more! :D

Where do you think I started? Yep, up here, like you, with mistakes too, but I got better, so you can get better too, and I'm sure you will!

Ah, that's pretty hard to believe. lol. I mean, look at you! You're a professional!

I'm just joking! I know you started out where I am. EVERYBODY does. (Unless they were born with an instinct of how to do it but I DON'T THINK SO). lol.

Thank you so much for clearing it all up! Right now, my only problem is that I don't "follow through" with like... cleaning up the spots I don't need and such. I'm just kind of careless and clueless right now. lol.Smiley

Hi,

USE THIS ONE INSTEAD OF MY ONE AT THE BOTTOM? You mean MY ONE AT THE TOPTongue out?
Lol! I see your smileys work and the color too. Instead of saying color="#8000FF", say color="purple"Smiley!
So we all have the same color!

TheOnePb - I'm not really an expertWink. I'm 1.5 year older than youSmiley

Woah! You replied really fast! lol!

REALLY?! Only 1.5 years? Woooooooah.

And the "Use this one instead of my one at the bottom" is because for MINE, it's at the bottom. I have my options set for the newest posts at the top. So, I guess yours is different.

And thank you for the "purple" thing. That also clears it up a bit.

This effect would be really cool if you could clip the screen into a circle shape to look like an actual coin.
