MultiScreen Effects
Posted: 26 Sep 2008 08:04 PM
Wow, I'm putting up a lot of posts today :P

Ok, this post is about my MultiScreen effects that I made. I made them off of rehan's multiscreen effects, so only half the credit goes to me... but yeah! These effects might be useful for some of you who need a little more variety.

The first effects that I have are just simple multiscreen effects that rehan didn't supply:

6x6:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="1050" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="(C)MultiScreen 6x6" iconid="0" guid="(C)MultiScreens 6x6" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="6,6" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

10x10:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="1050" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="(C)MultiScreen 10x10" iconid="0" guid="(C)MultiScreens 10x10" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="10,10" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

And, just for fun, I made a 100x100Tongue out:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="1050" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="(C)MultiScreen 100x100" iconid="0" guid="(C)MultiScreens 100x100" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="100,100" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Alright now. Now, I'll post my random multiscreen effect that I did. This effect is a lot like the rehan's "MultiScreens Demo" effect, but it differs a bit, if you know what I mean. Here is the code (I plan to make more in the future, so I put a "1" at the end of the name):

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="1050" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="(C)Random MultiScreens 1" iconid="0" guid="Random MultiScreens 1" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor evaluation="InverseSquare" type="float2" >
<Point time="0.0" value="5,5" />
<Point time="0.2" value="1,2" />
<Point time="0.4" value="3,3" />
<Point time="0.9" value="2,1" />
<Point time="1.0" value="1,1" />
</ScreenFactor >
</Semantics>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Enjoy! :D

Hi BlackbuckTwilight!

Thanks, nice againWink!
Again: view post 7 for the purple color that you should use to let people know it's a vista effect...
And: renaming them to (C) = putting them on another place. People with an unchanged ShaderTFX will have these effects first and the normal at the R.
Also: try putting all your effects in one XML:
Example:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="1050" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="TFX">
<Effect name="RehanFX MultiScreen 6x6" iconid="0" guid="RehanFX MultiScreens 6x6" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="6,6" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
<Effect name="RehanFX MultiScreen 10x10" iconid="0" guid="RehanFX MultiScreens 10x10" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="10,10" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
<Effect name="RehanFX MultiScreen 100x100" iconid="0" guid="RehanFX MultiScreens 100x100" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor type="float2" value="100,100" />
</Semantics>
</Effect>
<Effect name="RehanFX Random MultiScreens 1" iconid="0" guid="Random MultiScreens 1" shadermodel="2">
<Param name="Animation" value="FX" />
<Param name="FXFile" value="rehanfx_multi.fx" />
<Param name="Technique" value="MultiScreen" />
<Semantics>
<ScreenFactor evaluation="InverseSquare" type="float2" >
<Point time="0.0" value="5,5" />
<Point time="0.2" value="1,2" />
<Point time="0.4" value="3,3" />
<Point time="0.9" value="2,1" />
<Point time="1.0" value="1,1" />
</ScreenFactor >
</Semantics>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

I supose this one and the original Multiscreen don´t work for 64 bit (no matter it's Vista and 6.0). The original didn't work.

Make sure you have installed the originals first:
view post 126761

I haven't tested the installer under 64-bit but it is possible it is putting things in the wrong directory. See if anything got installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Movie Maker\Shared and copy the complete contents (plus the AddOnTFX subfolder) over to C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared

Whatta heck?! O.o No matter i told my pc to install the multiscreen in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared (and not in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Movie Maker\Shared -as the pc automatically always sugest) he did install it in the (x86)! OK, i did already drag all that Shared contents into the the C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared (NOT x86) and everything is solved!Thank you very much to remind me to check the (x86) MM folder (no matter nothing is there except a empty Shared folder) O.o Thank you again:D

I did follow the instructions properly above and it still didn't work :(

Perhaps it's because I have Windows 7 64-bit?

Did you do the copy step as noted above (from the (x86) folder)? Again, if you follow the copy step above after installing, it should work.

It doesn't work after copying it. When I apply it to a clip, the screen just goes black.

Did you try Blaine's suggestions?

You have to install Rehan's MultiScreen effects first.
It might automatically install in Programs Files (x86). After installing it, copy the files and folders to the other Program Files.

You should have these 3 files:
C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared
rehanfx_multi.fx

C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX
rehanfx_multi.dll
rehanfx_multi.xml

The MultiScreen Effects should work.
If it's the xml file you're having problems with, make sure you're doing it correctly.
The file name should end in ".xml" and go into Program Folders/Movie Maker/Share/AddOnTFX.

The Multiscreen Effects and the given xml both work for me, and I use MM6 with Windows 8.
Maybe make sure both Program Files Maker Makers have the intallations and xml file?
