Dancing picture effect
Posted: 20 Aug 2008 07:45 PM
I wanted to have a transition where the picture walked forwards, but I couldn't work it out as this is my first foray into Movie Maker transitions. So, I ended up with an effect that 'dances' the picture forwards, bouncing from side to side. I combine this with a static image following the effect.

It's my first time! Gimme a break!

<Point time="1.0" value="1.0"/>
</CameraZoom>
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>

hope it works for you. If anyone can come up with a walking transition, let me know.

Welcome to the forums. This effect looks pretty cool, thanks for sharing. I'm sure someone may come along and tweak this effect, then we can see what comes up.

How do I get this on my WMM? Sorry I've never done this using this sort of code.

To add this to Movie Maker (requires administrator privileges) do the following:
1. Close Movie Maker (if it is open)
2. Create a folder called AddOnTFX in the folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\ (if it doesn't already exist)
3. Open Notepad (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad)
4. Copy the XML code from above and paste it into Notepad
5. In Notepad, Go to the "File" menu and click on "Save As" and then type in "anyfilename.xml" - NOT - "anyfilename.xml.txt" (The .xml extension is important; but you can change "anyfilename" to anything you like.)
6. Navigate to your Desktop
7. In the box that reads "Save As Type", click the down arrow and select "All Files"
8. In the box below "Save As Type" that reads "Encoding", confirm that it reads "ANSI" and then click on "Save"
9. Copy the file from your Desktop to your AddOnTFX folder (the folder you just created) at C:/Program Files/Movie Maker/Shared/AddOnTFX (click on the "Continue" button at any prompt)
10. Open Movie Maker and you should now see your new effect

Nice effort scotboy.

Btw, if you change the Linear to Step, it becomes more interesting.

Can someone please give me a download link for this effect because I don't have Microsoft Office or any other program that I can post this on besides Word Processor and that won't convert it to the right format for effects...

Wait...I did what you're supposed to do, paste the effect into notepad, save it with a name that ends in .xml, moved it to the AddOn folder, and restarted my WMM, but it isn't showing up!

Did you make sure it a XML and not a TXT file? Also, the folder name is AddOnTFX. Any other name will never work.

Please help! I downloaded this effect properly but it is not showing up in the effects folder. I have downloaded effects many other times so I know I am not doing it wrong. This happened with all of the effects I have downloaded today. They just don't show up in the effects folder.

Is there a limit or somthing for the amount of effects you can have? Because I do have quite a lot!

:] Please respond soon!
