DPL Curtain Effects - Animated Stage Curtains for ShaderTFX

Click Demo Video for a video sample of these Effects.

If you like what you see, Download and run the installer exe. You may need administrator privilege.
It has a proper uninstaller.
Eleven Curtain effects will be installed. Variations on curtains opening, holding and closing.
You must have ShaderTFX installed and operating unexpired or registered.

If you are applying these effects to a video, just split a small ~2 sec section off of each end, then apply an opening effect to the first section, a open effect to the middle and a closing effect to the last section. There is also a closed effect if you want a leader or trailer. With photos you need just apply the opening and closing to the first and last photo and the open effect to all the photos in between. If you are mixing aspect ratios you need to apply the 100% zoom effect before the curtain effect. This will letterbox the image in the window.

This is a kit to show some possibilities, and for you to be able to construct your own Curtains. It would also be reasonable to construct window and sliding gate groups of effects.

The curtain image used in this example is from Saaria Product's webpage. A little cut and past gives an image with two parts - the valence and side curtains and then the curtain itself. You can see the image here. And purchase it for your big screen from SaariaSmiley.

Enjoy, PatrickL

Is there any award available for Excellence in creating effects/transitions for MM6?
You certainly deserve it for the coolest freebies. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the kind words gking. As a retired person I can only play so much golf and do so much yard work so I find this a nice creative outlet.

I was amazed and delighted by your PhotoShop video in the sharing forum.

As you may have noticed, I can write a little code but am artistically challenged. Perhaps you might want to use your skills to create some images for use by the folks here in MM land. Image Wipe Transitions, Animated Logo Effects and Transitions and these Curtains Effects are prime candidates for some art work. I could advise or collaborate if you are interested in creating some packages. Rehan's ShaderTFX has opened up a whole new arena in Vista Movie Maker land.

Hi Patrick L.,

Great work. When not actually? It's always very nice! Really great work...
Again, I have to make a point what I don't like: the colour. Red curtains would have been betterTongue out!!!

Lol, but really great stuff..
I'm sorry to say this: I'm posting in the wrong topic (again). For MMK image wipes: could you post your edited dll? And if you view that post you see I have a question about PhotoStack image preview (forgot name for a sec..)

Hey TheOne. You are a little picky, but I like red curtains too.

Here is an image with the hue changed to red. red curtains. A little color fringing left, but pretty good.

Just select the curtains with the magic wand in your image editor and you can change it too. Royal blue would be goodWink

I'm sure MMK will post his DLL when it is ready.

PatrickL,
I am never disappointed with your transitions and effects creations. Great job, once again! Also thanks again for helping me with my new transitions as well.

TheOnePb,
I have released my new transitions. It installs to: C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\MUI\0409\AddOnTFX There you can find the .dll file. You can download them here:

Can anyone show me how to apply/change the color variances that have been provided (the red or blue) to the original effect?
I'm working on a video for my mother's bday and I need this ASAP. Thanks in advance for any help.

clasycassie welcome to the forums.

I use an old Paint Shop Pro (V4) to modify the curtain colors. Use Magic Wand (with shft and tolerance 80) to select all of the curtains and side curtains. Then Colorize to adjust the hue of the selected areas and save as a PNG file with the open area defined as transparent.

Post the hue (or rgb) color you would like and I could make you one that all of us could use.

Happy bday to your mom.

Thanks Patrick L for your response.
I figure out how to use your blue curtain design. I was wondering if you could possibly have the time to make this effect with a different set of curtains.
Please email me at clasycassie@fuse.net if you can and I will send you the curtains. Thanks.

I have cut the curtains I wanted in the same manner that you did in your example, but now I don't know how to get it to work....Sorry I'm new at this. I will be more than happy to send you the jpg image so you can see what I'm talking about.
My mom LOVES electric blue so that's why I chose and modified the curtains I did. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.

**If I knew how to put the image on here or at least a link to it, I would.**

Patrick - Thank you SO much for all of the transitions/effects - especially the curtain but all of them are amazing - I just spent the past hour looking through your website. I am making a video (actually photos with music) for my 3rd grader's book club and the girls are going to love all of these effects! Thanks so much!

The problem I have is this...

I have 3 clips (the curtains open, the curtains are open, and the curtains close) the clip with the curtains are open is just black after I save the movie. While in movie maker it displays fine?

I have a registered version ShaderTFX.

Hi fpsbrian. I've never had this exact problem with the Curtain Effects, but here is one discussion of some black screen problems. view post 192739

It will not work if you don't have ShaderTFX installed and un-expired. There aren't any xml codes either, this is the only way.
