Adjusting Letterbox Height
Posted: 23 Feb 2008 09:05 PM
I downloaded Blaine's letterbox effect that gives the impression of having a widescreen on videos. I was just wondering if it is possible to adjust the height of the letterbox?

OR

Can anyone provide an adjusted and downloadable effect with a different letterbox height?

Example: http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/3848/widescreenedmw1.jpg

Thank you so much!

You can edit the XML to change the height...

I couldn't find the height code anywhere in the XML ..and i'm not very good at it either.
If you can just point me to the direction of what I should change, I would really appreciate it!

Add the lines in bold, then change the numbers in red. It's a percentage, so 0.125 = 12.5% (1/8 of the screen on top and bottom). If you want it a little bigger, try 0.2 or 0.25.

How would I edit it?
Just open Blaine's Letter Box in to notepad, and change the dimensions? When I tried that it wouldn't work.
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

You can't edit the file directly in the AddOnTFX folder. Instead copy it to your Documents folder. Right-click and choose 'Edit'. That should open it in Notepad. Make the changes and save it. Now copy it back to the 'AddOnTFX' folder. When it prompts about overwriting, choose to overwrite.

Did the original work correctly? Are you using any incompatible clip types like DivX or Xvid?

Yeah, it worked originally. And, yep, they're compatible.
But! I found out the what the problem was after starring at the code for a good ten minutes
[Look at the bolded area]
And thanks for the help!
I reeeeallly appreciate it. [=

Ah! Step should work too. The issue was it said "float4". I corrected it in the XML above. Thanks for catching that.

WMM 2.6, though it runs in Vista, is really a recompiled version of WMM 2.1 from XP. When referring to the "Vista" version, we are talking about WMM 6.0 which has a new architecture for rendering effects and transitions using Vertex/Pixel shaders on your GPU (graphics card).
