DPL ImageWipe3 Transitions for ShaderTFX - Take 2
Posted: 20 Dec 2007 04:29 PM
Here are some more ImageWipe transitions.

See Demo at ImageWipe2 Demo

The installer is DPL ImageWipe2 Installer. Run the installer exe. You may need administrator privilige. It has a proper uninstaller.

You must have DPL ImageWipe (view post 138958) and Rehan's ShaderTFX installed and operating unexpired or registered.

This set of 22 Image Wipes has no particular theme, just a bunch of public domain images I like and use. I got most of them from Google Images search engine.

You can make up your own. Just center an image on a 4:3 canvas, paint the parts you want transparent an odd color, then save the file as a PNG with the odd color designated transparent. Put the file in the DPL ImageWipes3C folder.

Then add an entry in the DPL Imagewipe3c.xml file looking like this:

<Transition name="DPL IW3EZC MyPicR" iconid="0" guid="DPL IW3EZC MyPicR" ShaderModel="2">
<Param name="ShaderFilename" value="DPL Imagewipe3EZ.fx"/>
<Param name="Technique" value="ImageWipeEZ"/>
<Param name="TextureFile" value="%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\DPL ImageWipes3C\MyPic.png"/>
<Semantics>
<Param name="Angle" type="float" value="0.0" />
<Param name="FlipH" type="float" value="0" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" type="float" value="0.1" />
</Semantics>
</Transition>

Next time you start MM6 you will have a new transition named MyPicR.
FlipH can be 0 or 1. Angle 0 is right, 90 up, -90 down and 180 or -180 left. BorderWidth is the fraction of the video width (0.1 = 10%) and iconid 0 is a generic icon.

Does this over-ride the previous version or is it an add-on?

Thanks a bunch for sharing!

This is an add-on. ImageWipe must be installed first, then this ImageWipe2. (and of course Rehan's ShaderTFX)

ImageWipe installs a HLSL (fx) file in the shared folder which is used by ImageWipe2.

ImageWipe3 should not be uninstalled, however you can disable it by just moving/deleting the DPL ImageWipe3.xml file. I just move temporarily unused xmls to a folder called InactiveXML and MM6 will not see it next time it starts. Move it back to AddOnTFX if you need to activate it again.

I am having trouble making my own picture to work PatrickL. I don't quite understand the " Just center an image on a 4:3 canvas " i have tried many attempts but they fail. I have tried 2 pictures, here they are:

Hi MMK, welcome back.

Not sure what troubles you are having, but the two budweiser images are OK as PNGs but do not have a transparent color defined.

I use IrfanView to do set a tranparent color like this:
- Open the Image File
- Click File->SaveAs...
- in Save As Type select "PNG - Portable Network Graphics"
- Check the "Show Options Dialog" checkbox
- Check "Save Transparent Color" in the Options Dialog
- Name the file and select the folder to save it in
- Click Save
- A dialog will pop up allowing you to select the transparent color - click on the color
Viola' you are done.

Other image prograns can set transparency also, read their help files.

Images that start out as JPG have compression artifacts and you may have to paint a solid color to touch up some edges before saving as a PNG. The transparent color in PNG is an exact color, not a shade of a color.

Also images with higher resolution will keep jaggies and pixelation at bay.

Have Fun, PatrickL

Hi Patrick, You made this look easy so I thought I'd give it a go, but perhaps these instructions were meant for someone already within knowledge of the previous steps to make? And not intended for an intermediate such as I? If so please ignore the rest of this message.

Anywho here is what I did I. I went to your page Patrick and downloaded and installed both ImageWipe 1 & 2

Then made an image with a Transparent Background. Canvas size: 434 x 326 pixels.
And saved it as a PNG. Using: Jasc PSP-7
I then: Put it into the DPL ImageWipes3C folder -
... which is within; C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX
I then copied and pasted that xml code you provided on the first message here onto notepad.

Named it as: DPL MyRose-Imagewipe3c.xml
Saved it into my Documents, and then copied and pasted it directly into my AddOnTFX folder
...within; C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared

But for some reason it does not show up in my WMM. I can see the ones I installed from you though, Thank you, they're wonderful!

God bless
Angela

God Bless you and yours
Angela

Hi Angela, glad you like them.

The XML above was to add a transition to my XML file.

To make your own standalone file, start from this:

<!-- ************* + Moving ImageWipe transition using DPL ImageWipe3.fx + ********** -->
<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8" specialiconfileid="5618" specialiconresourceid="101">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="ShaderTFX.ShaderTransition">

<Transition name="DPL IW3EZC MyPicR" iconid="0" guid="DPL IW3EZC MyPicR" ShaderModel="2">
<ShaderFilename value="DPL Imagewipe3EZ.fx"/>
<Technique value="ImageWipeEZ"/>
<TextureFile value="%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\DPL ImageWipes3C\MyPic.png"/>
<Semantics>
<Angle type="float" value="0.0" />
<FlipH type="float" value="0" />
<BorderWidth type="float" value="0.1" />
</Semantics>
</Transition>

</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

and you can add your new wipe transitions to this file as you create them

Sounds like you did all the other things rightSmiley

Have fun and share if you get some neat ones, PatrickL

i noticed in your xmls that the shader filename is DPL imagewipe3EZ, whereas the fx file that came with the original wipes is titled DPL_ImageWipes. could this have something to do with why the transitions don't show

From above:
You must have DPL ImageWipe (view post 138958) and Rehan's ShaderTFX installed and operating unexpired or registered.

The DPL ImageWipe installer should install DPL ImageWipe3EZ.fx.

i found that i had downloaded the wrong version, and when i deleted the old version and then scrolled down and dowloaded the last link from the bottom it worked. you should start a new thread with the correct version and this and you can add any future versions to that thread becuase the other thread was very confusing

monkman828, I reread the original thread and found it confusing tooEmbarassed. My only excuse is that it was one of my first and I was learning.

Here is the link to the Take 1 Image wipes that should be installed to make Take 2 work.
Download the Take 1 installer at "DPL ImageWipe Installer" Run the exe as administrator. It has an uninstaller.
