DPL Flyby TFXs for ShaderTFX
Posted: 23 Nov 2007 07:34 PM
re view post 150063. I couldn't get the referenced spatial transform approach to work, so I used Rehan's ShaderTFX to implement Rehan's graphical design of these 3D Flybys with just a little geometric distortion to kinda simulate 3D as he accomplished with PIP++ in XP.

See a demo at DPL 3D Flybys Demo with the installer at DPL 3D Flybys Vista Installer (has a proper uninstaller). Just unzip and run the "DPL 3D Flybys Installer.exe" file as administrator. You may need administrator privileges.

The frames, mouse, and flags in the demo are from some other DPL ShaderTFX packages and just for fun.Smiley

Enjoy, PatrickL

Wow very impressive patrickL. You may not have many post but you sure are good on the programming. You ever consider making a site? Once again good job.

Create a free site

I would reccomend the first link cause you can customize your site more, but there is ads, there is only 2 and they dont get in the way of your site, and they can be disabled by paying >.>

Create a free blog

Creating a blog is also good, because there is no adds and it can almost everything the first link can. Check them both out.

Do I need to have Rehan's Shader TFX in order to use the DPL 3D Flybys Vista Installer?

Umm one question:

Now it goes from upperleft to downright.
Could you make it go:
1. Downleft -> upperright
2. Downright -> upperleft
3. Upperright -> downleft

I really need this in an intro, so I hope it's possible.

Thanks!

Sure can TheOnePb.

As usual, the magic is in the rectangle to position and size objects.

To change the Flyby Effect from UL->DR to LL->UR

Look at: (UL->DR)
<Param name="RectNext" evaluation="Linear" type="float4" >
<Point time="0.00 " value=" -0.20, 0.00, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.20, 0.06, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.24, 0.07, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" 1.00, -0.10, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" 1.00, 0.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>
</Param>

where the 4 values at each time point are UL Corner X, UL Corner Y, X length and Y length, all normalized to 1.0.

Now change the UL Corner Y to something like: (LL->UR)
<Param name="RectNext" evaluation="Linear" type="float4" >
<Point time="0.00 " value=" -0.20, 0.80, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.20, 0.07, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.24, 0.06, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" 1.00, -1.10, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" 1.00, -1.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>
</Param>

Use the same idea to get the other directions you want and tweak the values to get it the way you like it. The Bump transition works similarly.

Have fun. PatrickL

Hi PatrickL,

Your sample for DL-UR works. I now have these effects:
<Effect name="DPL 3D FlyBy UL-DR" iconid="3" guid="DPL 3D FlyBy UL-DR" ShaderModel="2">
<Param name="ShaderFilename" value="DPL 3D Flyby.fx"/>
<Param name="Technique" value="DPL3D_Effect"/>
<Semantics>
<Param name="RectNext" evaluation="Linear" type="float4" >
<Point time="0.00 " value=" -0.20, 0.00, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.20, 0.06, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.24, 0.07, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" 1.00, -0.10, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" 1.00, 0.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>
</Param>
<BackgroundColor type="float4" value=" 0, 0, 0, 1"/>
</Semantics>
</Effect>

<Effect name="DPL 3D FlyBy DL-UR" iconid="3" guid="DPL 3D FlyBy DL-UR" ShaderModel="2">
<Param name="ShaderFilename" value="DPL 3D Flyby.fx"/>
<Param name="Technique" value="DPL3D_Effect"/>
<Semantics>
<Param name="RectNext" evaluation="Linear" type="float4" >
<Point time="0.00 " value=" -0.20, 0.80, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.20, 0.07, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.24, 0.06, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" 1.00, -1.10, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" 1.00, 1.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>
</Param>
<BackgroundColor type="float4" value=" 0, 0, 0, 1"/>
</Semantics>
</Effect>

But I've tried almost every combination, but I can't get DR - UL and UR - DL . Just reverse? Doesn't work, a lagg after the short stop in the center.. I don't get it. Could you post the DR - UL and UR - DL effects??
ThanksWink!

Try something like this for UR->LL:

<Param name="RectNext" evaluation="Linear" type="float4" >
<Point time="0.00 " value=" 1.00, 0.00, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.24, 0.06, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.20, 0.07, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" -2.00, 0.15, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" -2.00, 0.15, 2.00, 2.00"/>
</Param>

Since the rectangle is 2.0 wide at the end, the X position must be -2.0 to get it off screen left.

Okay. I get that. But then at DR-UL, the beginning = <Point time="0.00 " value=" 1.00, 1.00, 0.20, 0.20"/>...

And then I get wierd positions and ways it goes. I don't get it. Could you just give the DR-UL and then I can start making my new vid.>!!!

Thanks,

OK, this might work for you. DL->UR

<Point time="0.00 " value=" 1.00, 0.80, 0.20, 0.20"/>
<Point time="0.20 " value=" 0.24, 0.07, 0.80, 0.80"/>
<Point time="0.80 " value=" 0.20, 0.06, 0.82, 0.82"/>
<Point time="0.98 " value=" -2.00, -1.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>
<Point time="1.00 " value=" -2.00, -1.00, 2.00, 2.00"/>

Enjoy making your new vid.

WMM 2.6 is based on the WMM 2.1 from XP, so it has a completely different architecture. This will only work on WMM 6.0. If you are on Windows 7 and need WMM 6.0, check my signature.
