Bluescreen and Ticker in Vista
Posted: 30 Aug 2007 10:28 AM
Hi All,

Just wondering wether there was any sign of a Bluescreen for vista coming anytime soon, or if there is already one?

Also, just woundering if someone would be able to make this work in vista; I have tried but failed with the text.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">

<Titles>

<Title name="My CNN Ticker Tape" iconid="13" >

<Param name="InternalName" value="TitleStandard" />

<Param name="Description" value="CNN type ticker tape" />

<Param name="OptimalDurationMultiplier" value="3.0" />

<Paragraph>

<Param name="IsOneLine" value="true" />

<Param name="EntrancePosition" value="1.5 0.5" />

<Param name="ExitPosition" value="-0.5 0.5" />

<Param name="BoundingRect" value="0.0 0.9 1.0 0.1" />

<Param name="BannerType" value="HorizontalFlood" />

<Param name="VerticalAlignment" value="Top" />

<Param name="FontSize" value="16.0" />

<Param name="ResizingTechnique" value="KeepVerticalConstant" />

<Param name="MaxCharacterCount" value="1024" />

</Paragraph>

</Title>

</TitleDLL>

</Titles>

</TransitionsAndEffects>

Thank you ever so much,

Regards,

clats

Rehan has released a beta pack of transitions that include the bluescreen transition. For the link, look in the 'Share Your Vista Transitions and Effects' forum (view forum 33). Check the second pinned post (view post 126998). You'll also find other transition/titles/effects you can use in Vista.

Nick,

You are missing a 'guid='...
You have a typo in "Animation"...
Plus I think you want to add 'evaluation="Linear" in a couple spots.

I've tested the following code and it seems to work as expected. Save it as cnnticker.xml. The one caveat with .xml under Vista is that you have to save it somewhere else (like in 'Documents') then copy it to C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8">
<Titles>
<TitleDLL guid="TFX">
<Title name="CNN Ticker Tape" guid="CNN Ticker Tape" iconid="13" comment="Post #136114">
<Param name="Animation" value="TitleStandard" />
<Param name="Description" value="CNN type ticker tape" />
<Param name="OptimalDurationMultiplier" value="3.0" />
<Paragraph>
<Param name="IsOneLine" value="true" />
<Param name="EntrancePosition" value="1.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>
<Param name="ExitPosition" value="-0.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>
<Param name="BoundingRect" value="0.0 0.9 1.0 0.1" />
<Param name="BannerType" value="LowerFlood" />
<Param name="VerticalAlignment" value="Bottom" />
<Param name="FontSize" value="16.0" />
<Param name="ResizingTechnique" value="KeepVerticalConstant" />
<Param name="MaxCharacterCount" value="1024" />
</Paragraph>
</Title>
</TitleDLL>
</Titles>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

If you want the Chroma transition for Vista, check out Rehan's ShaderTFX. That is the only way to get chroma in Vista.

Remember - XP codes do not work on Vista.

But, the code in this thread does seem to work in Vista, you must have added it wrong.

Open Notepad, and copy/paste in the code considerate_guy posted.
Then save the file in your Documents folder as MyCNNTicker.xml and click Save.
Then, open your Documents folder, and go to Start -> Run and type in: C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared and create an AddOnTFX folder.
Then copy the file you saved in your Documents folder to your new AddOnTFX folder. Open MM, and it should appear in the titles list.

Quick question for you....I'm running this in Vista and it works great...but...is there a way to have the ticker running across the top of the screen instead of the bottom?

I want to place this ticker at the bottom side but not at the bottom most. I want to elevate it a little bit. How to do that. Please reply.

hello,

I just found out by reversing the values in those two line:

from:
<Param name="EntrancePosition" value="1.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>
<Param name="ExitPosition" value="-0.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>

to:
<Param name="EntrancePosition" value="-0.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>
<Param name="ExitPosition" value="1.5 0.5" evaluation="Linear"/>

I hope that someone finds it beneficial.

Add lines like the following:

<Param name="BannerColor1" value="#20FF0000">
<Param name="BannerColor2" value="#20FF0000">

The format of the color value is #AARRGGBB. For each part, use a hexadecimal value from 00 to FF. The example above is a transparent red.

AA = Alpha (transparency value), 00 = fully transparent, FF = fully opaque
RR = Red, 00 = no red, FF = full red
GG = Green, 00 = no green, FF = full green
BB = Blue, 00 = no blue, FF = full blue

CNN Ticker - Movie Maker
Posted: 10 Jun 2016 06:16 AM
Hi there,
I am not sure if you can help as I am replying to a very old post, however I currently have the latest version of Movie Maker and I am operating Windows 10, I want to do a CNN style ticker at the bottom of my video and I cant work out how to do this, I have tried to do what you instructed above, however I did not have Movie Maker in the same place that you had it, so I moved it and created a Shared Folder and an AddOnTFX folder.

Are you able to assist this with some advise?

many thanks
Sandra
