| 3. | very strange problem, cannot find any solution in web or forum Posted by zerirez on 5/19/2007 8:55:50 AM Hello,
I've a Windows Vista notebook.
I started a project with 2.6 version downloaded in Microsoft website.
Then I discovered the included version (6.0) in my Vista computer.
So I continued my work in Vista 6.0 version.
I saved my upgrades manually each 10 minutes and it happens that the program closed for unknown reason.
After this I cannot open any more my project!!

| 4. | Re: Simple title, bottom right Posted by kleinbaas on 9/2/2010 11:09:25 AM Thanks DickMr
This worked perfectly. I used the instructions from this post: http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=144279 and the code above (as I am on XP not Vista) and it worked beautifully first time.
To see the results check the video on this page: http://www.larringtontrailers.com/agricultural-machines/rotary-plough
Thanks again. |
| 5. | Re: Hours of estimating file size Posted by Neophyte on 9/1/2010 10:34:31 PM Marc - welcome to the forums.
The two most common causes of this problem are the use of an incompatible file type or too complex a project.
What's the file format of your source files? If they're an incompatible type such as MPEG-4, DivX, Xvid, MOV, FLV, etc, try using SUPER (it's a free download) to convert your files to avi format using ffmpeg and MS-mpeg4-v2 as the Video Output Codec. ... |

| 8. | Windows Movie Maker versions for Windows 7 Posted by jagman on 8/17/2010 1:54:04 PM I could use some help issues:
1. I love the Vista version of Windows Movie Maker and the Windows DVD Maker that came with Vista.
but, have now moved on to Windows 7 and find it does not have it. Have tried to use the "Essential" version but have problems with it starting. So I went to the internet and found WMM 2.6 and something called WMM 6. Do not know the difference?
But was able to get "version 6.1 (build 7600) to work ... |
| 9. | Re: Windows Movie Maker versions for Windows 7 Posted by considerate_guy on 9/1/2010 5:10:25 PM First, the version number you are looking at is the version of *Windows* not Movie Maker. I know, you are running Windows 7, but internally it is labeled as Windows 6.1. You need to look lower down in Help > About to know if you are on WMM 2.6 or 6.0.
WMM 2.6 is based off the XP version (it's for those people that couldn't run the native WMM 6.0 version under ... |
| 10. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by considerate_guy on 9/1/2010 6:11:04 PM No, no, not Windows Live Essentials. Go further down in my post and find the installers for WMM 6.0 under Windows 7. There's one for a 32-bit computer and one for a 64-bit computer.
|
| 11. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by considerate_guy on 11/19/2009 4:05:59 PM You can do this yourself if you have a backup of your Windows Vista computer. Pull out the complete contents of the C:\Program Files\Movie Maker folder. Restore these to the same location on your Windows 7 machine. Next register the 4 DLLs that start with WMM2<something>.DLL.
There have been a couple of posts from someone that has created an installer that does just that without out the manual steps. |

Windows Live Movie Maker – What changed in the new version, and why
It's worth a read to understand how the new hybrid storyboard/timeline works along with other rationale for the changes. For now, you are able to add comments to give your feedback to the team.

| 13. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by Paradoxdb3 on 9/5/2009 4:05:53 AM Okay, I'm sold on the 64 bit version. After a bit of research (and seeing I'll be getting a new computer and other hardware anyway) I've decided to go with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit version. On what computer, I haven't totally decided yet.
But I'm getting off track....I'm using Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit. Can I still copy the Movie Maker folder on to the new Win7 64 bit machine? And do I need to have XP mode installed? Thanks again! |
| 14. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by papajohn on 9/3/2009 7:14:35 PM MM for Windows 7 is really Windows Live Movie Maker. MM2.6 was made for Vista.
Yes, I have all those versions on my Windows 7 system. |
| 15. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by PapaJohn on 9/3/2009 9:12:12 PM Installing MM2.6 on my Windows 7 system resolved the issues I had with still pictures in MM2.1.
Yes, you would need to register the MM2.1 DLLs... and MM1 also.
MM2.6 and WLMM would be OK... but as MM2.6 is a stripped down version of 2.1, v2.1 has more features. For example MM2.6 can't capture video from a mini-DV camcorder connected by firewire... and it can't capture music or other sounds, something I use often in MM2.1.
Except for paying ... |
| 16. | Re: Windows Live Movie Maker - Released Posted by PapaJohn on 8/28/2009 5:37:19 PM I invited all my versions of Movie Maker over to my Windows 7 system for a party... and introduced them to Windows Live Movie Maker.
MM1, MM2.1, and MM2.6 are all getting along well with WLMM. MM2.6 even fixed an issue I had with MM2.1. MM6 hasn't shown up yet. |

| 19. | File Missing or Corrupt Posted by LoksVassago on 9/1/2010 4:49:12 PM Alright, so here's my problem with this. I have recorded a set of .avi files using FRAPs (all roughly 2 minutes in length).
All of these files play 100% fine and without problem. They are totally uncompressed .avi of slightly under 4 GB/2 minutes in length in 1920x1080 resolution. They contain audio. The audio as well as the video both play 100% fine in windows media player.
However, one section of the file when loaded into movie maker does not play a preview ... |
| 20. | Putting WMM on my Windows 7 machine Posted by Tedology on 1/3/2010 7:04:13 PM Hello all!
First post and I want to thank the forum staff for a great forum. :)
I've been reading through the messages and I have a question, please:
I upgraded my XP machine to Windows 7. Loved WMM, not crazy about WLMM. I never had Vista, so never had 2.6 of WMM. Am I stuck? I read a few messages and saw links where we can install WMM 2.6 on our Win 7 machines, but first we have to get the Movie Maker folder and actually bring it over on an ... |
| 21. | Re: Putting WMM on my Windows 7 machine Posted by grapemanca on 1/4/2010 10:11:22 PM Hi Tedology,
Another option is the newest Vista Movie Maker (WMM6), which a lot of people are now installing on Windows 7. This particular port has HD options and a very smooth and intuitive timeline. I like WMM6 much better than 2.1 or 2.6, but you'll need a decent video card in my experience. You'll find the WMM6 installer for W7 here:

| 22. | Audio fine, Video sped up... Posted by AquariZ on 9/1/2010 1:22:22 AM Hey everyone. I've been trying to figure out this problem for a week now. I just bought a new Sony Handycam HD. So the videos recorded with it, have way different files than I'm used to. I am trying to edit these videos in Windows Movie Maker. No luck, it wouldn't import them. So I tried to use Any Video Converter.
The original video file (for HD) is: (.mts)
format: (h264)
frame size: (1440 x 1080)
fps: (60 fps)
Now I really ... |
