actually my math is bad it was 4 yrs ago, If you have XP, look under programs for moviemaker or search you computer for movie maker, it comes intergrated in XP. 2.1 is the latest version for XP and how you can tell is by opening up: Movie maker, then open: Help, then open: About Wmm the 2nd and forth lines will tell you if you have Service pack 2 (SP2) and version 2.1. Take care! tt

Wmm does not work well with mpeg files, there are many converter programs, some only convert certain types of files. http://neophyte.windowsmoviemaker.info/converters.php Neo has put together this list of freeware converters. The 2 i use most are Super and Aimersoft (giveaway of the day a few months back) Many use Windows Media Encoder, if you try wme or Super take a look at http://www.desilucy.com/index.php?lvl=3 on how to use a given converter. You will find DesiLucy's and ...

Engi, Welcome to the group, I'm sorry i don't know much about your operating system. Can you open Wmm then open Help, then open About Wmm, Tell us what lines 2 and 4 say. It will tell what version of Wmm you have. there are many helpful and knowledgable people on this site. Take care! tt

Hi Ralph, Well the mod files are a mpeg type file so converting them to a wmv or an avi (with a Wmm freindly codec) would be your best bet. Check PapaJohn's website or DesiLucy's for more good info on converting mpeg to avi's / wmv.(hint use the search function, click on search not just a return) Good Luck with your project! tt

Jello, are you restarting Wmm? the another thing is in the XML the second line tells wether it is a transition, effect, title,or credit. and in the Xml is designates "AddonTFX" folder if it doesn't it is in the shared folder in Wmm. I had the same problems, made the same mistakes, it's easy to do! But it sure is fun when it's working right! Take care! tt

Have you unchecked Filters ending ".ax" Wmm> tools> Options 3rd tab is compatibility, you may have a couple or dozens. What is your Video file type? It might be a good idea to read PapaJohn's tutorials #68 and #161 then download Gspot check your video clips. A Codec issues can cause a very large bad output which you will get "not enough storage" tt

I should have said Tutorials are top right hand corner of this webpage, All 6 cyberlink codecs I have end in .ax according to Gspot. In Wmm you can hold the cursor over each filter it should show the extention, or you need to slide the stops over to see the end, no way to make window bigger. You can check them with Gspot, download link in the Tutorials. Your trying to use the mpeg2? They are dicey at best. Converting will get you going. PapaJohn did a tutorial on Super, it's a bit of an ...

Blaine, I don't want it to move? just looking to have a side by side videos, Here is what I'd like to do we take video of a player then we work with them to improve, then make a video later and compare and show them how they improved or still doing the same thing. or compare them to a pro. I just happen to be into hockey, baseball and golf could use the same type of split. What confuses me isn't static standing still??? Thanks for the help! tt

nope it doesn't well i was going to copy and paste the icon of the transition, but the cntrl c is only in wmm. I'm thoroughly confused about transitions static is standing still at least as I know it? The way i found it was what you said you said you don't need the pip+, and started playing with the transitions seeing all the different ones (like a kid in a candy store!) Trying them out, bingo the light went on! Next audio, thats not to bad, then titles. Now my ...

your Wmm item? ends in .ax that might be a filter, if you have xp sp2 Wmm version 2.1, open Wmm>tools>options>compatability uncheck the filters ending in .ax around 6-8 of them in the list. There are more than one crashes and hangs out there, the number one is using files like mpeg2 and mp3's. Avi's also can be problems when the wrong codecs are used. Take care! tt

yes, sometimes it seems like it's so complex you will never get it to work, once you do it's fine, then something else will come up like new .ax filters(codecs). I'm doing more with Wmm than i ever did with pinnacle or ulead. Glad to hear your up and running! Have fun! tt

There are 200+ codecs out there, hold your cursor over each filter, it should give you the complete name, looking to uncheck those that end in .ax, I don't have any of those in my filter list so I can't tell you if they end in .ax, also you can slide the brackets over to extend the right side viewing. tt

look for 2.1.4026.0 on line 4, open Wmm> Help > About. it should be 2.1 not 2.0 Then check under Tools >Options > 3rd tab is Compatibility see the window these are filters that Wmm uses, it will use one that does not work well in Wmm and you can lose video or audio or lower the quality. The ones ending in " .ax " are ones that should be unchecked These filters(codecs) can cause your problem, and they can come from udates of media players. !st time i unchecked them ...
