I would reboot and then go here and see if it offers Movie Maker 2 to download. Microsoft's Windows Update Site

To reinstall the Movie Maker:

NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group in order to perform this procedure.

Click Start , click Run , and then type the following command:
%systemroot%\inf

NOTE : There are no spaces at all in the preceding command line.

Click OK to open the INF folder. ...

I used a Mac for 10 years. I am a Graphic designer but the lack of applications and compatibility for the Mac made me switch for good.

Try some of those programs listed in the squares at the bottom of this page... Sony Movie Studio is a pretty nice one too...

MP3? Wav file? Narration... You're going to have to be more descriptive if you would like some suggestions.

Can you use Encoder to create a WMV file then bring it into Movie Maker to cut the commercials out later?

If you have Windows XP do a system restore to last week, when it was working, and see if that helps...

I know that isn't the answer you want but there could be thousands of things that has caused this.
