| 2. | Re: Help..No such interface supported Posted by nzsirhc on 8/13/2010 8:06:05 PM Thank you for your help. I have tried saving to my computer, then opening windows dvd maker, but I still get the same message. Very frustrating. Yes I have version 6.0 running vista. Dont know what else to do, but thank you. |
| 3. | Re: How To Get a Better Answer... Posted by PapaJohn on 10/16/2007 1:30:43 AM Regit... I hadn't seen your post until now, as I don't read them all. My website's Setup MM2 in XP > MM2.1 page has all of my notes about getting that version running.
You can check the software restriction policies in place by
Click Start, then Run, Type secpol.msc, then click OK.
Go to the Help file in the Microsoft Management Console that opens.... the Software Restrictions Policies > Troubleshooting section covers your message. |

WMM glitches randomly with this version. I have to go into Task Manager to close it. Here's a screencap of the glitch:

| 6. | Re: Video Transitions and Effects File Posted by Neophyte on 6/25/2010 8:46:10 PM Try doing a System Restore back to a date before you installed that version. If you still have missing transitions and effects in Movie Maker after doing that, try downlaoding and running this program to manually re-install Service Pack 3. |

| 9. | Can't publish movie Posted by Dormouser on 5/23/2010 8:55:24 PM Sorry to be posting this old chestnut again - I thought best not to tag on to someone elses question about the same problem as the answers may get confused.
Please appreciate I have followed Papa John and Desilucy as best I can and I did post on the official windows newsgroup first. I am truly desperate to get MM working again as it is so simple and I don't have to pay extra for it; I have tried other video editing packages and they will do the job so I know there is not ... |
| 10. | Video plays in storyboard/timeline, but not when published Posted by Larkinn on 4/26/2010 5:39:38 PM Hey all...
Been dealing with this for a while and nothing has worked (short of chucking the computer out the window, which has been very tempting).
Basically, I have about a 7 minute video that plays perfectly fine in both storyboard and timeline, but when it's published, no matter what the format, there are two areas where the video/audio will go blank until the next clip. Counter keeps running, but can't see or hear anything.
All of the ... |
| 11. | Re: wmvs look strange in movie maker Posted by Neophyte on 4/4/2010 10:30:42 PM Welcome to the forums.
Try going to "Tools > Options > Compatibility" in Movie Maker and unchecking all the filters ending in .ax and see if that helps. If it doesn't, check what codecs were used to encode your wmv files by downloading and running them in a free utility called GSpot. See PapaJohn's Newsletter #68 and ... |
| 12. | Re: WMM won't work Posted by Neophyte on 3/29/2010 9:18:13 PM There's not a separate download for version 6.0 (the versions that comes with Vista) of Movie Maker.
Actually, it might be your avi files. That's because avi is what is known as a container format and whether it will work in Movie Maker depends on the codecs used to encode the video and audio inside that avi container. There are hundreds of codecs that can be used with the avi container. Thus, while some avi files will work fine in Movie Maker, many others will not.

I have just finished my latest project, Using Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and Windows 7, only to have the music skip or stutter. I tried changing the music I was using and have the same problem. I am using music from CD's that I have ripped on to Windows Media player, so they should ... |
| 14. | List of problems, can you help? Posted by lappyhappy on 4/7/2010 9:23:17 AM I'm running Windows 7.
Problem 1: WMM was crashing after attempting to add any videos to the project. I read that this could be because of the filters, however, I could not locate the filters anywhere. I supposed this is because you can't access them in the most recent version of WMM. So I have now downloaded WMM2.6 and the program is no longer crashing (I would like to use the more recent version of WMM if someone has some suggestions on how I could do this..?)

| 15. | Re: WMM won't let me publish Posted by Neophyte on 4/5/2010 9:47:17 PM Try running the System File Checker; see this article for the details on how to do that.
Also, is my understanding correct that you couldn't publish a movie when you had just a single title and your wma file on the timeline? Which versions of Vista and Movie Maker are you using and do you have any codec packs/bundles installed on your system? |
| 16. | Re: No Video when Published Posted by Neophyte on 4/4/2010 11:27:12 PM FYI, I thought you had Vista as "publishing" a movie is a term used in the Vista version of Movie Maker but not the Windows XP version.
AVI is what is known as a container format and whether it will work in Movie Maker depends on the codecs used to encode the video and audio inside that avi container. There are hundreds of codecs that can be used with the avi container. Thus, the fact that one avi file works in Movie Maker doesn't mean all avi files will work in ... |
| 17. | Re: Thumbnails vanished Posted by doggyman59 on 3/23/2010 1:11:43 AM Thanks for your help, Neophyte. I don't think there's a compatibility problem. I've been using a combination of .wmv and .asf all along without a hiccup. I tried turning filters on and off without success.
What I wasn't aware of in my first post was another new problem...probably not a coincidence. When I close the WMM program now, I can't reopen it again without either re-booting my computer or going into the task manager and deleting the moviemk.exe process. On a few ... |

I have the Windows Vista version of Movie Maker, and I have a movie that is about 30 minutes long and when I try to publish it to my computer, it freezes at approximately 58% and shuts down and displays a message saying "Another user is running windows movie maker on this computer. Please close the other program before restarting this one". There's only one problem...I AM THE ONLY USER ON THIS COMPUTER. Does anybody know why my movie won't publish?? |

| 20. | Re: Program Crashes Every Time Posted by PapaJohn on 9/11/2009 12:45:02 AM Thanks for being honest about not using a genuine copy of XP... but I'm afraid that'll limit the value of any suggestions you might read on these forums, and at my website's Problem Solving > Crashes and Hangs page. We have been seeking help by reading threads like this. We have been to your site and that is why we checked for all the ax files and we found none of these existed where our problems were located. I never posted my issue for people everywhere were posting the same concerns I had. When one responded, often you, we tried that change and nothing.

Going around the Microsoft updates can result in issues... even worse than those you can be in when using the Microsoft provided updates. You might need to sort out your files and see what version you're running. See the Setup ... |

thanks... of course by uninstalling IE7, it might have changed... but I'm looking mine dated 8/9/2004, with IE7 running, so it's not a new one.

While the file type may not have changed, the codecs used to encode the video and audio in those files may have changed and those codecs could be causing the problem. Check what codecs were used for your source files by downloading and running them in a free utility called GSpot. See PapaJohn's Newsletter #68 ... |
